Two judges confirmed their ability to administer justice, one did not


On November 14, 2023, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine on its meeting considered upholding the decisions of the Commission’s panels made within the framework of the qualification evaluation procedure for judges of local and appellate courts for their compliance with the position.

 According to the paragraph 2 of part one of Article 88 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”, the decision to confirm the ability of a judge (judicial candidate) to administer justice in respective court shall enter into force from the date of adoption of this decision if such a decision is upheld by not less than eleven members of the Commission.

As a result of the meeting, the Commission took the following decisions:

Refer the case to Panel No. 2, of which the rapporteur is a member, for submission to the High Council of Justice of a motion for dismissing the judge. Notify the specially authorized entity in the field of combating corruption of circumstances that may indicate that the judge has violated the legislation on the prevention of corruption
