Meeting of future candidates for the positions of local court judges with members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine in Odesa

On February 21, 2025, in Odesa, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Andrii Pasichnyk, Commission member Roman Kydysiuk and  legal professionals, dedicated to the selection of candidates for the position of a local court judge.

The issue of judges’ secondment to 3 courts is scheduled for consideration

According to part one of Article 55 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”, a judge may, with his or her consent, be seconded to another court of the same level and specialization to administer justice by a decision of the High Council of Justice adopted on the basis of a submission from the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

Qualification evaluation of two judges for their suitability for the positions held has been terminated

On February 19, 2025, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine in plenary session considered the issue of terminating the qualification evaluation of two judges for their suitability for the positions held.

Based on the results of the meeting, the Commission made the following decisions:

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine recommends that a judge of Bilovodskyi Raion Court of Luhansk Oblast be transferred to another court

On February 19, 2025, the Second Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine considered the issue of making a submission with a recommendation to second judges to another court of the same level and specialization to administer justice.

Interviews with three judges were postponed

On February 18, 2025, the Panel of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine considered the issue of studying the dossiers, conducting interviews and determining the results of the qualification evaluation of three judges of local and appeal courts for their suitability for the positions.

Based on the results of the qualification evaluation, the Commission made the following decisions:

Two candidates continue to participate in the competition to the High Anti-Corruption Court

On February 17, 2025, as part of competition to the High Anti-Corruption Court, a special joint meeting of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (HQCJU) and the Public Council of International Experts (PCIE) was held to evaluate the candidates' compliance with the criteria stipulated in Part Four of Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine “On the High Anti-Corruption Court”.
