Competition for the Odesa Court of Appeal: Two Candidates Confirmed The Ability to Administer Justice

On January 20, 2026, at the session of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, interviews were conducted and the results of the qualification assessment of four candidates for the positions of judges in the Odesa Court of Appeal were determined.

Based on the results of the qualification assessment, the Commission took the following decisions:

On January 15, 2026, at a session of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, interviews were conducted and the results of the qualification assessment of four candidates for the positions of judges at the Odesa Court of Appeal were determined.

The Issue of Judges’ Secondment to Four Courts Has Been Scheduled for Consideration

According to part one of Article 55 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”, a judge may, with his or her consent, be seconded to another court of the same level and specialisation to administer justice by a decision of the High Council of Justice adopted on the basis of a submission from the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

To the Attention of Candidates for the Positions of Judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court!

Pursuant to Part Five of Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine “On the High Anti-Corruption Court”, at the initiative of no fewer than three members of the Public Council of International Experts, the issue of compliance of any candidate for the position of judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court with the criteria established by law shall be considered at a special joint meeting of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and the Public Council of International Experts.

The Commission Recommended Appointment of Kateryna Barabash to the Position of Judge of the Kamianets-Podilskyi City-Raion Court of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast

On January 14, 2026, at a plenary session of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, the issue of recommending Kateryna Barabash for appointment to the position of judge of the Kamianets-Podilskyi City-Raion Court of Khmelnytskyi Oblast was considered.

The suitability for the position held of a judge appointed for a five-year term prior to the entry into force of the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine (Regarding Justice)” must be assessed in accordance with the procedure established by law.

The Commission Recommends Secondment of Seven Judges to Other Courts

On January 14, 2026, at the session of the First and Second Chambers of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, issues were considered regarding the submission of a motion with a recommendation for the secondment of judges to other courts of the same level and specialisation for the administration of justice.

Due to changes in the territorial jurisdiction of court cases, the Commission decided to submit to the High Council of Justice a motion with a recommendation for secondment of the following judges for a period of one year:
