On July 28, 2023, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, Roman Ihnatov, took part in a meeting on the administration of justice under martial law held at the Supreme Court.

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine has supplemented the draft agenda of the meeting scheduled for August 16, 2023, at 13:00 with an additional issue: “On the secondment of judges to the Babushkinskyi District Court of Dnipropetrovsk”.

According to part one of Article 55 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”, a judge may, with his/her consent, be seconded to another court of the same level and specialization to administer justice by a decision of the High Council of Justice adopted on the basis of a proposal from the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

On July 26, 2023, the Commission will hold a meeting:

 at 09:30 – on approval of the coded results of anonymous written practical assignments of the qualification examination appointed by the decision of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine dated June 24, 2019 No. 107/zp-19;

On July 20, 2023, a meeting of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine considered the issue of continuing the evaluation procedures provided for by the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”.

On July 20, 2023, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine considered the issue of continuing the competition procedures that were not completed by the previous composition of the Commission.

In particular, it was decided to extend two competitions.

At the meeting of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine held on July 20, 2023, the Commission considered an appeal to the High Council of Justice and the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine to determine the number of judges in local and appellate courts.

The Commission addressed the HCJ and SJA to resolve the issue of determining the number of judges in such courts.

On July 19, 2023, at the meeting of the Second Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, it was decided to extend the term for consideration of the issue of judges’ secondment to two courts.

Having reviewed the notification of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine on the need to second judges, the Commission extended the deadline for consideration of the secondment of judges to:

I. On approval of the composition of the permanent panels of the Commission.

II. On appeal to the High Council of Justice and the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine to resolve the issue of determining the number of judges in local and appellate courts.

On July 27, 2023, at a meeting of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, the issue of compliance of public associations that submitted documents to the Commission with the requirements for participation in the meeting of representatives of public associations to establish the Public Integrity Council was considered.
