16 members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine were appointed on June 01, 2023, at the meeting of the High Council of Justice. The resumption of the HQCJ is one of the seven recommendations of the European Commission regarding Ukraine’s application for membership in the European Union.

On March 01, 2023, an online meeting of representatives of the Commission and international assistance projects working in the field of strengthening the Rule of Law took place, organized with the support of the USAID Justice for All Program. The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by the Head of the Legal Department of Commission’s Secretariat Natalia Kidina.
On February 02, 2023, a working meeting was held between the leadership of the Secretariat of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and representatives of the USAID Justice for All Program: counselors Anna Sukhova and Serhii Suchenko, expert Elvira Fayzullina, and IT expert Andrii Zhuravlev.
The first online meeting with the representatives of international assistance projects working in the field of strengthening the Rule of Law in 2023 was held with the support of the USAID Justice for All Program. The event was attended by representatives of the Ukrainian legal community, international organizations, and international technical assistance projects, as well as the Secretariat of the High Qualifications Commission of Judges of Ukraine.
A friendly meeting with Mykhailo Makarchuk
On February 1, 2023, the Secretariat of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was visited by Mykhailo Makarchuk, a member of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (2014-2019), Secretary of the Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (2015-2019).
During scheduled and emergency power outages, the Commission guarantees the functioning of the official website only during the working hours of the institution.
According to paragraph 2 of section II “Final and transitional provisions” of the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Judiciary and the Status of Judges” and Some Laws of Ukraine on the Activity of Judicial Governance Bodies” from the date of entry into force of this Law, the powers of members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine were terminated. As of today, the new composition of the Commission has not been formed.
