The First Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine considered the admission of candidates to participate in competitions for 35 vacant positions of local court judges and 7 vacant positions of judges in local general courts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions based on the results of a special background check on 18 October 2023.

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine in connection with the appeal of the Public Integrity Council decided to postpone consideration of the following issues:

On October 10, 2023, a working meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Ruslan Sydorovych, and the Sectoral Manager at the EU Delegation to Ukraine Alban Biaussat.

The event was also attended by the Chief National Expert of the Judicial Reform Component of the EU Pravo-Justice Project Volodymyr Chaban, and by the Deputy Head of the Commission’s Secretariat Taras Neshyk.

To the attention of persons who submitted applications and documents for participation in the competition for the occupation of 346 positions of judges of appeal courts, announced on August 9, 2019, which has been canceled!

On October 06, 2023, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Roman Ihnatov held a working meeting with the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Maciej Janczak.

The event was also attended by the Manager of the Council of Europe Project “Support to the functioning of justice in the war and post-war context in Ukraine” Iryna Kushnir, and the Deputy Chairman of the Commission Ruslan Sydorovych.

On October 5, 2023, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Roman Ihnatov held a working meeting with a delegation of judges from the State of California, USA.

The Deputy Chairman of the Commission Ruslan Sydorovych and the Head of the Commission’s Secretariat Olena Ponomarenko also attended the meeting.

On October 04, 2023, the Deputy Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Ruslan Sydorovych met online with representatives of International Technical Assistance projects (hereinafter referred to as ITA) in the area of strengthening the Rule of Law, organized with the support of the USAID Justice for All Program. 

The meeting was also attended by Olena Ponomarenko, Head of the Commission’s Secretariat, and Commission members Roman Sabodash, Andrii Pasichnyk, and Vitalii Gatseliuk.

Please be informed that the qualification evaluation of judges is planned to be undertaken by the Commission in November 2023

100 days of operation of the new High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine. 100 days of improvement of procedures aimed at ensuring independence and increasing the authority of the judiciary in Ukraine.

On September 29–30, 2023, a joint strategic session of the High Council of Justice and the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was held in Lutsk supported by the EU “Pravo-Justice” Project and the USAID “Justice for All” Program.
